Bishop Clement of Ancyra/Ankara (d. AD 312)
Clement was born in Ancyra, today known as Ankara, the capital city of Turkey. It is believed that Clement served as the bishop of Ancyra for fifty-four years, from 258 to 312.
Around 312, Clement was arrested and commanded to worship pagan gods, but he refused and stood strong in his faith. He was beheaded by a soldier while he was leading a worship service.
