The Jacobites: The Church of the East

Since the 500s, the Church of the East has been known as the Jacobite Church, or the Jacobites.

Although many people refer to the Syrian Orthodox Church, the Coptic Church, the Ethiopian Church, and the Armenian Church as Monophysites—teaching that Jesus had only one divine nature—this is not quite accurate. The Church of the East insists that they were never believers in the teaching of Eutyches, but were more accurately Miaphysites, based on the teaching of bishop Cyril of Alexandria, Egypt.
