What I’m posting here I have never heard before, although somewhere I am sure someone has said it or thought it.

The question: Why does the apostle Paul call the church–the body of Christ?

My answer: The phrases the body of Christ and the temple of the Holy Spirit are related. in writing my recent book, Wonder Worker: The Miraculous Jesus,” I was taken back on how many times it says in the Gospels that the power of the Holy Spirit came out from Jesus’ body. I could say more about this.

It is often said that no one knows where Paul came up with calling the church–the body of Christ. I believe Paul was speaking of Christ’s literal body, within which the Holy Spirit dwelt in fullness and through which the Holy Spirit ministered. I could write a lot on the Holy Spirit in the life and ministry of Jesus.

In the same way, the church is the body of Christ, because the church is the temple, the dwelling place, of the Holy Spirit. And through which the Holy Spirit ministers among us and around the world.
