The Church of the Apostle Paul in Pisidian Antioch/Yalvaç (late AD 300s)

The Church of the Apostle Paul was built in Pisidian Antioch (modern Yalvaç) in the late 300s. On the left side of a font discovered at the church are the words, “Saint Paul.” On the front of the font is a quotation from Psalm 29:3, “The voice of the Lord is above the waters,” and the declaration, “Jesus Christ is Victor.”

There is a large mosaic floor in the nave (center) of the church, which is now covered up. One inscription on the mosaic states that it was completed during the time of bishop Optimus, who represented Pisidian Antioch at Constantinople’s Ecumenical Church Council in 381.
