Bishop Stachys of Byzantium/Istanbul

It is believed that the apostle Andrew ordained Stachys as the second bishop of Byzantium. He served as a faithful shepherd of God’s people for sixteen years, from 38 to 54. Al- though we do not know if it is the same per- son, the apostle Paul mentions Stachys in Romans 16:9, “Greet … my dear friend Stachys.”
