The Church of the Apostle John in Philadelphia (Alaşehir) (AD 500s)
The Church of the Apostle John was built during the reign of emperor Justinian, in the 500s. It is the only church building today that represents the growth and influence of the early church in Philadelphia (modern Alaşehir). Some poor quality frescoes can be seen on its arches. Unfortunately, most of the ruins of Roman Philadelphia are covered by modern buildings.
