The Three Dimensions of Leadership

There are three dimensions of Christian leadership from my perspective: capacity (essential functions), scope (size/width of influence), and longevity (length of effective ministry engagement).
Capacity: the ability to perform the essential functions of a leader at a high capacity of effectiveness and success.
Scope: the width or size width of a leader’s sphere of influence (shrinking or expanding) — not just the scope of people, but the scope of the development of leaders.
Longevity: Leader longevity is not simply living longer, but remaining an effective leader in capacity and scope during the last decades of years of our aging of our brain. (the bible was careful to instruct us not to ordain a leader when they are to young. In today’s terms, Jesus started his ministry at 30 the time when our brain begin to age and decline in its functions).
